In 2008, in Ota, somebody plugged in a blender.

It was just one blender, fresh fruit, and a goal that sounds almost too simple: make healthy juice, and leave people better than you found them.

Seventeen years later, that one blender has become Fruity Life: 25+ branches across Lagos, from Ikeja to Lekki to Ajah, serving wraps, parfaits, smoothies, and sandwiches that have quietly made it one of Nigeria's favourite healthy food brands.

But this story isn't really about juice.

It's about what almost broke the business on its way up and how Bumpa became the system running underneath these branches, from the website customers order on to the reports the accounts team pulls every morning.

Bumpa is an e-commerce and business management platform that helps merchants sell online, manage stock, and run their business from one place, without needing a website developer or complicated software. This article covers the story of Fruity Life and how they use Bumpa to run theirs.

The Straightforward (But Not at All Simple) Problem

Here's the thing about growth: it doesn't just multiply your sales. It multiplies your chaos.

In the early days, Fruity Life ran orders the way almost every Nigerian business does: through WhatsApp. And for a while, it worked. A customer texts, a salesperson replies, the order gets sorted. At this time, it was straightforward and simple.

But then, the growth came. They expanded. Then they hit 20+ stores. And WhatsApp, which was once the effective tool that helped build the business, started strangling it.

Picture the daily routine: a customer messages to order a Chicken Wrap. The salesperson handling WhatsApp doesn't know if that branch still has it, so they text the physical store. The store checks the shelf. Texts back. The salesperson replies to the customer. The customer has a question about delivery fees. Another back-and-forth. Multiply that by hundreds of orders across Lagos every single day.

Customers began to complain that replies took too long. When we interviewed the team, Michael Ayodeji, Head of the E-commerce Team at Fruity Life, put it this plainly: "That was quite good when we were handling two, three, four stores. But the moment we expanded and hit over 20 stores, we knew that this is not sustainable... It was a lot of headache handling several stores."

That sentence should sound familiar to anyone who's ever grown a business in Nigeria. The systems that get you started are rarely the systems that get you to scale. This is true whether a business has one location or many; the moment order volume grows, a manual system like WhatsApp becomes the bottleneck.

Enter Bumpa

The team knew exactly what they needed: a system where customers could order on their own terms, browse options, select their choices, and pay without waiting for a human to text them back or experiencing any delays.

They shopped around. They read reviews from other vendors. They chose Bumpa and built their new website, fruitylife.com.ng, entirely on it. Bumpa works for businesses of any size, from a single shop to a multi-branch business like Fruity Life's, which is part of why the switch fit so easily.

The first impression stuck immediately. When we spoke to the team, Adebimpe Adepoju, Brand Manager for Fruity Life Nigeria, remembers seeing the Bumpa-built website for the first time:

"It felt like Fruity Life. It felt like what we've always wanted. It was clean. It was fresh. The flow was amazing. It reflected our brand identity, and I loved everything about it."

A healthy food brand's website that feels fresh seems very fitting.

What Bumpa changed for the customer

Visit fruitylife.com.ng today, built and run on Bumpa, and the experience feels less like texting a vendor and more like walking into the store nearest to you:

You pick your branch. All locations are right there on screen. Choose the one closest to you, and the website shows the exact stock available at that specific branch.

Delivery sorts itself out. Bumpa connects the website directly with dispatch services like Chowdeck. Pickup or home delivery, your choice, and the delivery fee is calculated instantly, to the exact amount.

No human needed. Browse, select, pay securely, track your order, all on the website.

What Bumpa changed in the back office

Before, the accounts team added up sales across all branches in more complex ways. Now, with Bumpa, they download daily, monthly, and quarterly sales reports instantly.

Bumpa's Customer Management and Analytics Feature

Before, customer knowledge lived in scattered chats and staff memory. Now Bumpa shows the business exactly where customers live, which products they love most, and which branches sell the most.

And every order placed through Bumpa quietly builds a marketing asset: customer emails and phone numbers, securely stored and ready for updates about discounts, promotions, and new menu items, sent to people who've already proven they'll buy.

In the latter part of our interview with the team, Adebimpe had a word for business owners not using Bumpa yet.

"Definitely, you are losing time, you're losing data, and you are losing money... Having your customers order from you on your website using Bumpa makes it easier for you to have data at the back end."

From Ota, with love (and fruit)

Fruity Life's journey from one blender to 25+ branches was powered by a great product, a stubborn dream, and eventually, the wisdom to know when the old way of working had expired.

Adebimpe sums it up the way only a convert can in the interview by saying: "I would describe Bumpa to another business owner like a must-have. It's something you need. It will help your business."

As for the rest of us? The team's recommendation is clear: start with the Mixed Nut Yoghurt or the famously extra-creamy Chicken Wrap.

Skip the long WhatsApp messages. Head to fruitylife.com.ng, pick your nearest Lagos branch, and experience what it feels like to run a business at full flow.
