Grow Your Revenue & Customer Retention With the New Loyalty Points Feature on Bumpa
The average business owner goes through a lot of things in business that make them understand that business goes beyond just making one sale.
Situations like losing your Instagram account, a new business selling cheaper, someone else increasing their ad spend, or even a new customer telling you they bought because an old customer referred them, make you realise that sometimes the most valuable tool in your business is the customers you already have.
This is one of the reasons we’ve built the loyalty points program feature on Bumpa.
Business.com says that returning customers spend 67% more than new customers, and loyalty programs can contribute as much as 20% to a business’ overall revenue, so we’ve built a way for you to engineer loyalty into your business operations with the loyalty points program feature on Bumpa.
What Is Loyalty Points?
It’s simple: loyalty points basically reward customers for every successful purchase with points they can use as money to buy something or get discounts later.
Think of it like a cashback system, just that it’s not actual cash, but it is something they can convert into a discount to use for another purchase, thereby guaranteeing another order.
Are Loyalty Points A New Phenomenon?
Absolutely not. Most of the biggest brands in the world have loyalty points programmes in different formats. Brands like McDonald's, Starbucks, and even local brands like Ebeano, Blenco etc.
Believe you me, I have used many an Ebeano point to get a discount on my order or even pay for items in my basket.
Airlines have loyalty rewards, so do financial apps and other brands across different industries.
So what we have done now is to put this system in your hands as a business owner. Giving you the tools that big businesses use to succeed, no matter the size of your business, customer base, or operations.
Why Should You Activate A Loyalty Points Program?
A. Cheap Marketing
It’s cheaper to retain an old customer than acquire a new one. If it only costs you N100 as potential cashback to make an old customer choose you again, that is very, very cheap marketing.
B. Loyalty Programs/Customers Make You More Money
Active loyal customers have been seen to increase business revenue by close to 20% compared to non-active or new customers.
This means your business stands to make more money in the long run than a business without a loyalty program.
C. Loyalty Points Can Be A Competitive Advantage
With so many competitors in the market, the fact that your customer knows they have points with you can be the reason they decide to buy an item from you instead of going to your competitor.
D. Increased Customer Retention
Loyalty programs have been seen to increase customer retention by over 35%.

What To Do After Activating Loyalty Points
Setting up loyalty points is just the first step in getting it to work well for your store; there are a couple of things you can do to get maximum value for it.
A. Send a Campaign to Your Customers to Inform Them of Your Loyalty Points Programme
You should send an SMS/email to your customers letting them know about your loyalty program, how they can earn and how they can use it on their order.
In fact, after sending an email, you can also schedule another email a week or a month from now to remind them in case they missed the last notification.
B. Update your Welcome Email
If you have your welcome email settings turned on, you can add information about your loyalty program to your customers so they know about it and opt into it.
C. Inform your Customers on Social Media
You can create a video either announcing that loyalty programs are live on your website or create a video showing how shopping that earns loyalty points also works on your store.
D. Create a Flyer About Your Loyalty Program
You can also create a simple flyer talking about your loyalty program and post it on all your social media platforms. You can also send a BC to your customers informing them about your loyalty points program.
E. Add Loyalty Cues to Your Website
Besides the loyalty policy in the footer of your website or the box that also shows up on your website, you can add information about your loyalty program on your custom banner, custom message, and much more on your website.
